Hi Hashnode! đź‘‹
We’ve all hit a 404 error page at some point—it’s like running into a dead end while exploring the web. Most of the time, these pages are frustrating or dull, and we move on. But I wondered: What if 404 pages could be something more?
That’s how Echo404 was born—a playful Chrome extension that turns 404 error pages into community-driven spaces.
đź› How It Works
Here’s what Echo404 does:
When you land on a 404 error page, Echo404 activates automatically.
You’ll see echoes—fun messages left by others who’ve visited the same domain.
You can leave your own echo, adding your voice to the space.
It’s like leaving a digital note on the web’s forgotten corners!
🎯 Why I Built This
404 pages are like blank canvases—often overlooked, but full of potential for creativity. My goal with Echo404 was to:
Turn frustration into delight: Make error pages fun instead of annoying.
Encourage creativity: Give people a way to leave their mark online.
Build connections: Create shared experiences in an unexpected place.
✨ Try It Out
Getting started is easy:
Install Echo404 from the Chrome Web Store.
Visit a 404 page (e.g., Example 404 Page).
See echoes from others and leave your own.
💬 I’d Love Your Feedback!
This is an early-stage project, and I’d love to hear your thoughts:
